Summary: In business we tend to focus on the business, clients, employees, etc. take a break now and focus on you!
Yes, focus on you. Usually I ask you to reflect on how you can contribute to a better workplace, be a better boss and overall improve your leadership. Today, I want you to be selfish and think about yourself and only yourself.
Why? When we only focus on the world around us, the people in our lives and our business – we can lose who we are. We can turn ourselves into robots, focusing on “to do lists”, what do our clients need and what do our employees want. This shift on yourself will break you away from the monotony and in turn make you a better person and expand the possibilities. Who wouldn’t like that?
So what does focusing on “you” look like? Here are some examples:
- Take a class that is not work related. For example: cooking, yoga, novel writing etc.
- Take time off. Go away for a long weekend.
- Go on vacation. Yes, take those two weeks and go away.
- Delegate. Ask someone else to take care of a few things for you.
- Read. Buy a book or go to the library and read a novel. Lose yourself in someone else’s world.
- Meditate. Learn to clear your mind and allow new thoughts to come in.
