The promotion you have been working on has come through. Your hard work and effort has paid off. It’s your first day on the job and you are getting a realistic view of what it entails – so many projects, things to fix and work to do. Then in the pit of your stomach, you get that awful feeling of “what did I get myself into?

We have all been there. That dreadful feeling we have bitten off more than we can chew.

Let’s stop that feeling of overwhelm before you create a mountain you can’t climb. Follow these simple steps to put the work back into perspective.

Create THE list. Take a look at all that needs to get gone and put it into a list in particular order.

Break it down. Some of the items on your list may be too large to be a “to do” item on their own. Break it down into manageable tasks.

Deadlines. Add any deadlines that may already exist.

Prioritize. Those with a deadlines will go to the top of the list.

Share. Take a look at your team and let them know what your vision is and ask for their feedback and support.
