When it comes to running your business through your people, you need to understand your mindset towards your employees. This is the starting point on how you lead your team or maybe in starting to change your behaviors to better match what is needed. Only you can decide where you are.
Usually I give you helpful tips to be able to move forward. This time, it will be different. Instead, I’m going to give you questions to think/reflect about and determine if you are ok where you are or would like to make a shift (I am always here for you if you need assistance).
Ready? Here are a few questions to ask yourself:
- Do I believe my employees are my greatest asset?
- Do I listen to my employee’s ideas even though I may not agree?
- Do my employees contribute to the success of my business? How?
- Do I give my employees the freedom to make decisions?
- Does my team treat each other with respect?
- Do my employees know what is expected of them?
- How do my employees contribute to the team?
- Am I more focused on the results or the process?
- Am I comfortable with the way my team talks to the customers?
- Do I give my employees the space to contribute their ideas?
- Do I coach my employees to find the solutions to situations or do I give them the answer?
- Does my team equally share challenges as they do successes?
- Do I know what motivates each member of my team?
- Do I feel at ease talking to people about what they do outside of the office?
- Have I earned their trust?
Ok, maybe that’s more than a few. You may even have come up with a few of your own. Â Understand where you are to be able to understand how your leadership is viewed by others.
