Summary:  Your employees are good at helping your find more employees – why not have them help you get  more business? Here are three steps to get your started.

When it comes to finding more employees for our business, going to our current employees is a common source of referrals. When it comes to finding more business – do you turn to your employees?

After all who knows the business best, the type of service/product provided, what the company stands for and how it values its clients/customers than your employees. After all, no clients equals no work.

When was the last time you asked your employees (besides those in Sales or Marketing) to help you promote your business?

Here are a few easy steps to get this started:

What a good customer looks like. Not in physical appearance but in the type of business they run or products they buy. Tell them about your best customers, what they do and how they use your product/service.  You gain two ways – they understand your customers better and they will know a good customer when they see one.

Key Phrases. If we sit down and think about it, there are a couple key phrases a possible customer may say that tells us they are interested in our product/service. For example:  I am frustrated with having employees (yes, that’s for me). What are yours so they can recognize it.

What to say. Your employees won’t become overnight Sales people who can take an interested person to buyer in one session, so don’t expect it. Instead focus on a phrase or two they can say when they comes across someone who would be a good fit and to ask for their information so the appropriate person can contact them. They can be a lead source.

Keep in mind it has to be no pressure for them and maybe add in a small commission for the lead – a nice incentive.
